Like of another world

Now there is so little time for playing, so there is less time for fishing than often before. This weekend, my wife and I took the fishing gear to our cabin because now there is a short break from construction work. We did some work but on Saturday evening we went to Lake Selvatn. Selvatn is beyond the ridge over Lake Hreðavatn. An old acquaintance of my wife's has a forest cottage there. She hoped she would meet him there but found it unlikely since he is an old man now. That turned out to be the case so she could not renew the fishing license he gave her when she was a teenager. When she was a teenager, she worked for four summers on the farm Hreðavatn. That is where she got to know the owner of the cottage and that is where he gave her a lifelong fishing license to the lakes that belong to the farm.
It can´t be said that this fishing license has been put to good use. Certainly, we have on a few occasions fished in Lake Hreðavatn but only once before in Lake Selvatn. Now we wanted to see if it was more promising to fish in the south end of the lake. We tried the north end last summer and found out that fly-casting was difficult there. The weather was beautiful when we walked from the forest cabin to the lake. We felt like we were walking into some fairy tale world. The vegetation surrounds everything and quite a lot of trees have been planted there. The trees have grown well. We the people of the moor are not used to so many trees.
The fishing was not great but we were aware of some fish. After four hours of fishing, we had landed five trouts. One was released, and the others will be grilled.
