The second trip to Arnarvatnsheiði was taken with my brother-in-law, Magnús. We were quite early in the season, probably too early. We thought the trout would be moving by mid-June, but that was clearly not the case. We didn’t catch anything, and I only saw a small trout dart away from us once as we walked the bank of Réttarvatn. There was one thing I was very pleased with, though, and that was my British mountain car. The Land Rover showed what it is capable of, as the heath was still quite wet in sections.
The third trip was taken the following year, with the Fishing Department of the Grandi construction club. On both of these trips, we took the northern route up to the heath, which is much more passable than the southern one. On this trip, one decent trout was caught in one of the rivers, but otherwise, no one caught anything. For once, I didn’t take a single photograph on this trip. Such bad luck. Fishless for three trips in a row. Possibly I will try one more time, and if no fish are caught on that trip, I will say that Arnarvatnsheiði has been fully tried.
