Baulárvallarvatn July 31st, 2009
It doesn't have to be boring even if you don't catch anything.
The family was fishing in Bakkaá and Gríshólsá, as we often are, and there was little action, so on a fine day, we went to Baulárvallarvatn. The story was the same there. Nothing was happening; then again, we were there during the high noon hours, and that is likely not the best fishing time in the lake. I imagine it is better to fish in Baulárvallarvatn when darkness falls at night. In the despair, I pondered what kind of farming had taken place at the farm Baulárvellir, which used to be there and was abandoned in 1868. Legend says that a monster lived in the lake and took down part of the farmhouse one night in 1838. Believe this story who will, but it is entertaining.
