I thought the permit for Gufudalsá was expensive, but Guðrún and I decided to go for it anyway when our friends suggested a fishing trip there. We stayed for two days in a decent fishing cabin with our friends, trying our luck at catching Arctic char. I understand that the permits for this river are in high demand, so there must be stories of more fish than we actually encountered. We only found fish in one spot, ‘Rennan’ (The Chute), which is located high up the river. There, I managed to land three or four char, but they were small. We were there at the beginning of the season, so we were likely just a bit too early.
