It seems there will be a further delay before freshly caught trout graces the dinner table in this household. We are having no luck hooking into any fish. My wife and I decided to head out to Lake Þingvallavatn on Sunday evening. I had spent the day on concrete repairs and felt quite satisfied with myself by the end of it. I felt we deserved an evening together by the lake after the day’s work.
The conditions were exactly the same as the Monday before when I last visited the lake. A light southeasterly breeze. Just like that Monday, it was slightly windier at Þingvellir than in town. This time, however, we decided to check out the conditions at Vatnskot. I had my five-weight rod with me. I would have preferred a heavier line, but that wasn’t an option this time. My old reel gave out during the first fishing trip of the summer, and I’m currently waiting for a new one from Valdimarsson.”
Just like the week before, the wind began to die down as the evening wore on. Had we not been expected at work the following morning, we surely would have kept fishing; however, reason triumphed over desire, and we headed home empty-handed.
