We visited my old hometown in Tálknafjörður at the beginning of August, and of course, we took the opportunity to try fishing a bit during the trip. This week, the weather was exceptionally good. Inland from Vatnsfjörður on Barðaströnd is Vatnsdalsvatn. This lake is quite large and holds large fish. However, it is most common to catch 1–3 pound fish. We drove along the lake on the west side all the way to the river that flows down Vatnsdalur and into the lake. We weren't fishing for long, as we had a young fisherwoman along who perhaps isn't too thrilled about the quiet leisure we were offered. We did, however, manage to catch one char of the smallest kind.
