Tales from our cabin - 9. - 11. September 2022

Fjársafnið rennur niður af Holtavörðuheiði í átt að Hellisá á leið sinni yfir í Þverárrétt.

The fishing season usually ends for my wife and me in August, but there is no reason to stop so early. You can definitely find fish in September also. So, we went to our cabin on Friday together with Imba and Kristján. Early the morning after, Guðrún and I, drove over the moor Holtavörðuheiði and onwards to the lake Hóp. There we planned to fish for the last time this summer. Soon after we left the cabin, we saw a big herd of sheep on its way from the moor. The farmers were herding their sheep from the moor for the first time this autumn.

The searchers were rather unlucky with the weather because there was a fog on the moor. Guðrún and I were pretty sure that finding the sheep would not be easy in these conditions. Imba and Kristján met some of the men who were herding the sheep while Guðrún and I were fishing. When asked, they said that it had been easy to herd the sheep. That is, the sheep they saw. When Guðrún and I came back in the afternoon we saw, as expected, that there were still a lot of sheep on the moor.

We arrived at the cabin just before dinner and had little to say about the catch. My wife caught one sea trout and that was the last catch this year.
