Tales from our cabin - 21. - 23. of October 2022

It's October vacation in the schools in Reykjavík, and my wife and I decided to go to the valley this weekend. We stopped at the swimming pool in Borgarnes. It´s obvious that the spring is in. There weren´t many people in the pool even though the weather was perfect for a swim. Those who were in the pool were mostly young people and kids. It was interesting and rather nice that everyone was unusually chatty. Why we don´t know. Maby it was the weather. When we reached our cabin at the end of the valley it was clear that winter was taking over there.
The temperature during the stay was around from minus three degrees to plus three and the wind was calm. Inside the house, the thermometer said the temperature was about 23 degrees, but by the walls it was colder, about 13 degrees. The heat pump does not completely heat up the poorly insulated house. That's why we had to let the large oven in the living room help.
At midnight on Friday evening, we walked outside. The view to the northeast was amazing because in the clear sky the stars twinkled in thousands and the northern lights danced over the hill in front of us.
