Big chars and flowering wood cranesbill

Because of the weather conditions, I have not been seen at the banks of Lake Thingvallavatn until now. June has been very cold in the southern part of the country so I did not believe it was worth the effort to try to fish in Lake Thingvallavatn. In July my wife have been staying in the countryside but when we had to go to the city to run some errands I took the opportunity and visit Lake Thingvallavatn for the first time this summer.

The weather, as you can see from the pictures, was absolutely fantastic. At most, a breeze, and sometimes it became completely calm. I've often heard that it is hopeless to fish in these conditions, but that's not necessarily my experience. For example, I have had good fishing trips to Þingvallavatn in conditions like this. This time, the char's interest in the flies I offered was zero. I guess spawning is the main thing for the char right now, not feeding. I know that the char was at home because I saw them swimming back and forth and some of them were really big.

The wood cranesbill is blooming now everywhere at Thingvellir. It was a good opportunity to practice using our new camera my wife and I invested in the other day. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.
