Oh my, it was windy

The fishing department of Grandi Construction Club went on its twentieth fishing trip from the the 7th to 9th of July 2022. According to the weather sevice, the weather was supposed to be extremely different on those days and it did not start well. A weather warning was sent out because of windy conditions that were expected on Thursday. The wind was then expected gradually to descend on Friday, after which the weather was supposed to be nice.
We rented a house near the lakes and by the time we got there, the weather was already crazy. We did not let it stop us and went fishing once the cars were unloaded. For a nearsighted guy like me, the conditions were awful. Twice I had to sprint after my glasses. It was remarkable that they did not break. I had to fish without the glasses, because they could not stay on my nose. I started fishing on a well-known spot on a point in Lake Arnarvatn while my partner fished in the inlet where our late fishing partner Örn fished so well in 2020. Once I was on the point the wind was extremely loud and I could not stand straight in it. On one occasionLuckilywhere the wind caught me off guard and I plunged in front of me and fell on my stomach in the water. Luckyly it was shallow were I fell.

Soon, the fish began to take. I had difficulties keeping up and ran between the two rods landing fish. After about two hours I had landed twelve beautiful brown trouts. When I arrived at the inlet where my fishing partner was he told me about the troubles he had been facing. Exactly the same happened to him. The wind caught him also and blew him into the lake. While we were busy fishing under these impossible conditions, the highway was closed because it was considered too dangerous to be traveling in this weather.
In the evening a toast was made to a fallen fishing companion and friend. Örn passed away early in the spring after a battle with a difficult illness. We recalled previous fishing trips of the Construction Club, but there have been quite a few. According to records by the group's statistical expert, there have been twenty fishing trips and in them, 908 trout have been landed.

The weather service predicted correctly. The wind was a little less on Friday and it got less strong as the morning wore on. He was still pretty strong though. That morning I managed to land seven trouts in Lake Harðarvatn. They were caught on the point in the middle of the lake, where our companions had fished well in the storm the day before. Two of my fish were Arctic chars. Mysteriously one of them disappeared. I suspect that it was stolen by a Great black-backed gull.
After lunch on Friday, the wind fell until it was completely calm. Unfortunately, it wasn't just the wind that calmed because so did the fishing. The trout stopped taking the bait. By the end of the day, I had landed nineteen trout and the group sixty in all during the whole fishing trip.
