Always in the wrong spot

I was confident that there would be a good idea to include filleting equipment on the Construction Club's annual trip to the Lakes Without a Name. That's why I sharpened the filleting knife so it would slide along the trout's spine as if it were butter, and the fillets were quickly and safely arranged in the cooling box at the end of each day of fishing. Most fishing trips to the lakes gave me a reason to be so optimistic.
We arrived in the area about two o'clock on Thursday and went straight fishing because the summer house we rented was not ready for delivery. As usual, we split into two fishing partners. The senior citizens went to Lake Vallavatn and the younger ones to Lake Arnarvatn. Full of optimism, I began the fly casting from the cape of Lake Arnarvatn, which has at least three occasions given me a good catch. At the end of the day, I had only landed three relatively small trout. My partner didn't do any better and only had one. The seniors, on the other hand, did better and had a nice catch in Vallavatn. On Friday morning I went to Vallavatn and was expecting some catches because of the catches the day before. After fishing the whole morning until two o´clock my partner had landed four trouts but I had not landed any. The seniors went to Lake Harðarvatn and they did not land any fish either, well except one European flounder. In the afternoon I and my partner fished in Lake Harðarvatn while the senior citizens went to Vallavatn. Seniors caught a few trouts and one eel but we caught none. The last shift was on Saturday morning and it was a copy of the day before except that now we all fished in lake Arnarvatn. I guess sometimes you're always in the wrong place.
There was good fishing weather these days. The temperature was 11 – 13 degrees and a breeze from either the northeast or northwest. Sometimes the wind would fall into calm. It was obvious that it hasn't rained much in this area recently because we'd never seen the waterfront so low in the lakes on our trips. Perhaps it was the conditions that caused how little we fished or the timing. We've always fished in the lakes a little earlier in the summer.
